As I have mentioned before, AOL was planning on blocking AIM 5.5. Thanks to PimpUigi for posting the comment that AOL finally has blocked access.
I went ahead and gave it a shot, sure enough, I got that warm error ding, and this message

But luckily PimpUigi also provided links to bypass this error. All it is, is the replacement aimres.dll that you copy over in your c:\program files\aim folder. I tested it and it worked just fine.

Many thanks!
I think I have decided to automatically lock out old blogs, probably blogs that are older than 3 years. Doesn't seem relevant to have them public, and I can see some idiot reading a blog from 2005 as if it was written yesterday... anyway, the old blogs seem to be nothing more than havens for spamming attempts, hence why 'woot' is #2 on the top blogs.
So yeah, they won't be deleted, just hidden, like a lot of blogs on here. Now let's see if i can add that to the algorithm.
So here I am sitting and thinking of a few things, especially this whole "social networking" concept where we "socialize" with people on the network... "socialize" right... more like desocialize. Facebook has become a regular routine in my life, to the extent where I have put an annoying little icon on my browser to notify me when I have a status update. If that isn't as bad, I also have a desktop gadget "facebook feed" that is always there, constantly notifying me of my wall updates about shit i couldn't care less about.
As being a person who was born on the internet, and enjoyed socializing on the internet, I have some form or another been involved in "social networking" even before it was called that. I think the term sprang around the whole friendster fad that lasted a little while. I remember when my friend stated I should join friendster, but I didn't see any enjoyable advantages of it. All these social networks are just merely cookie-cutter profile pages. Boring as fuck if you ask me.
We all feel glad when we complete the first stage of our game. Much as if we reached the end of our game, satisfied, complete, happy.
Then the second stage begins, and it all changes. Things become harder and more challenging. So many times you fail only to try and try until you either complete the stage or give up.
Games, constant challenges that leads you to an ending of emptiness. Sure you complete the game, but then what? you are left with nothing, and any sense of accomplish is a pathetic attempt to swell up your own ego. You realize that in the end, the game was just a set of challenges, challenges that were suppose to stimulate you, and push you back.
Games... These fucking games that are played to entertain individuals and their fucking egos, as if nothing else matters. Maybe it is a method of creating illusions from the real world. Right, because people in general are so pathetic to take what reality is.
Games... It is like a crutch for the ego hungry, the ones that continue to challenge themselves while appearing stupid to everyone else.
So this past weekend I have been working religiously on this website, making it much easier to replicate among upcoming projects I have planned. Never have I thought it was going to be this much work, nor have I realized that when I begin the first other 'project', I will be putting a lot more work under my belt because I am creating a blogging algorithm that can satisfy different things.
A good example is the amount of customization allowed. I eliminated the 'about' page that was independent from the blogs, and created a system where you can create a page by using a special tag much like my hash categories. I also created a database for items like table of contents, sidebar modules, links, and subtitles. Things, oddly, which were a part of of sekondattempt.com when I was self-hosting.
Another important key is that I separated the css from the website, putting it all in an independent folder, along with pictures and icons, so that the site can easily be altered and not changed when I copy a newer version over and older one.
Well, I think I got it... Actually I hope I got it. I shouldn't get any more spamming comments, because since I relaxed the rules a bit I got bombarded with new comments full of this crap.
Pretty much this time around I prevented any form of incorrect linking. As in, anyone using the <a href> or [url] codes will automatically get rejected. Not sure why any normal commenter would even post those kind of links on a custom blog. Anyway, commenters, if they want to post a web address must do so via [link] or just typing out the address.
The biggest change, though, is the fact that if you are posting under an unverified email, any web address you post will automatically get rejected. This should completely nullify any spam comments. though I say should, because they are tricky bastards.
So if any new commenters do want to post a comment with a link, they can post a comment, verify their email, and then post a new comment, which will actually auto-merge the two comments.
